DRESDEN

I’ve spent last week on holidays with my sister in Dresden and Berlin and will now share my experience. I feel these 2 cities offered me a lot and will split this in 2 posts.
Dresden can be seen in 3 days and you should go prepared with the german basics... because even though the city is amazing… 95% of the people don’t speak a word of English… not even in the tourist spots.
I’ll try to give my Dresden Top 8!

One of the days if you can get a car you should visit the palaces that exist around the town. They are wonderful; we have to say that the August the Strong made a lot for the city and was madly crazy for castles.
You may start by Schloss Moritzburg, with a baroque architecture and a lake around it (frozen when I was there), it presents you a fantastic view. (TOP 8)

Then follow to Meissen the town of Meissen Porcelain, and if you want lose your mind and buy something, the castle and Cathedral also offer you a fantastic panoramic. (TOP 7)

Already in Dresden you should see the River Elbe Castles. You have the Albrechtsschloss (now a culinary school), the Lingnerschloss (a café with low prices – one of the conditions of Lingner when leaving the castle to the city in his testament) and the Schloss Eckberg (a hotel). (TOP 1)

Then you have the 2 days to explore the city center and visit one of the castles easily reached by bus.

To finish the so called Castle tour you should visit the Schloss Pillnitz. This castle is also on the Elbe and on the summer can also be reached by boat. The Castle has asian elements which makes it special. (TOP 2)

Near the castle you find the Blaue Bridge, also known as Blue Wonder, which is said to have been originally painted in green but with time turned blue. (TOP 3)

In the city center we have several points of interest.
Frauenkirche (TOP 4), the women church was one of the several monuments that have been destroyed in the bombing of Dresden on the 2nd World War. Only in 2004 the reconstruction has been completed. Now is one of Dresden landmarks.

Brühl Terrace (TOP 6) offers you some fantastic views of the Elbe and also of the Architecture of Dresden.

Grosser Garten (TOP 5) also deserves a visit, even if only a part of it, since it’s a big park (Great Garden, the name says). In its center another palace can be found.
Next… Berlin… See ya!

No seu centro encontramos, guess what, outro palácio
A seguir.. Berlim… See ya!
